Graham Hancock is both an explorer and author of many books such as America Before: The Key to Earth’s Lost Civilization and Visionary: The Mysterious Origins of Human Consciousness, and he is also presenter of Netflix's Ancient Apocalypse. Hancock has forged a career exploring ancient sites throughout the world and presenting alternative narratives of the grand scope of human history. Though his ideas have been fiercely attacked by scholars and anthropologists, his audiences undoubtedly learn about many incredible ancient sites throughout the world - such as Serpent Mound in Ohio (on his left shoulder), Gobekli Tepe in Turkey, and Gunung Padang in Indonesia.
Hancock also explores inner worlds opened by psychedelics. In Visionary, he describes his ayahuasca experiences with Amazonian shamanism, as well as the likely shamanic origins of many cave paintings and petroglyphs throughout the world. With a background as a journalist of war-torn regions of Africa in the 1970s, Hancock’s courage to explore both inner and outer worlds personally makes his message a force to be reckoned with in shaping a truthful narrative of human civilization.
In this painting, the megalithic sarsens of Stonehenge evoke Hancock’s thorough investigations into their origins. The green energies are suggestive of ayahuasca, the hallucinogenic “vine of souls” common in Amazonian shamanism. His speculations even reach to the stars, where his research explores the significance of the three stars of Orion’s Belt according to ancient Egyptians, Native Americans, and other diverse cultures throughout the world.
